Ideas for a COVID valentine’s day

The most common thing today when it comes to making plans is that we have always have to consider a pandemic. Fun (please note my sarcasm in that fun). With all us experiencing Valentine’s day during COVID, we still want to be able to enjoy the day, be safe and not worry about the next family meeting with uncle Cyril. Here are 5 ideas for a safe and fun valentine’s day.

1. Movie drive in

ree

If I have said it once, I will say it again a movie drive in is fun. I have been a couple times and it never disappointed me. Majority of the time you may not even be there for the movie itself, you are there for the experience. What’s great about this is that it’s also COVID safe.

Think about, for the entire movie you are sitting by or in your car (socially distancing), if you want food, you can either bring your own but if you want to support a business you can by wearing your mask and sanitising. It doesn’t even have to be romantic, if you want to bring some single friends (who are COVID free) you can really have a good time. So, whether you are boo’d up or flying solo, you are guaranteed to have a good time.

If you are look for looking for a movie drive in, best place to look is on Facebook. The ones there always give you the authentic drive in experience to the point where they will even play the advertisements they played back in the 60s.

2. Cook a meal

ree

As cheesy it is but for me when you cook with someone is one of the best times to connect with them. I don’t know what it is but the combination of food and usually one person who does not know what they are doing (me) is both hilarious and fun.

You can do a simple meal really, so many recipes that you can find online. My best bet when you don’t know what you are doing make something that involves pasta, chicken and cheese, you never go wrong there.

While prepping the meal you guys can play some music in the background, my personal favourite is either 90s RnB or the Ratatouille soundtrack. Have a snack like popcorn or even an adult beverage (wine). Once the meal is done have a cute set up where you can eat and continue enjoying.

3. A picnic at home

I know this sounds simple but have you seen how people have been doing picnics nowadays? Not only is it aesthetically pleasing but it's clever to the point where you just need a glass to have some cake. You can distance yourself, do it in a small group or with your partner. During the day or even at night (but watch out for curfew). Since in 2021 it's almost impossible to hang out with someone without taking photos, it's also a good opportunity to take some pictures for the gram. I mean why not...

4. Parking lot date

ree

Ok so here me out, whenever I have time for myself, my favourtie thing to do is go a fast food drive in (usually Mickey D’s), get some food, park where there is a nice view in the parking lot and just chill in the car and eat. I get to think, listen to music, watch Youtube videos offline and honestly have a good time.

With all the thinking I do, I had a thought on how this would be a nice date idea for future bae and I. We can get into deep weird conversations, eat and laugh. The way to do this right is the time of day to go. The best time is just before sunset. To add a little bonus maybe do a little photoshoot and the lighting during that time is amazing.

5. Go to a store together to buy gifts for each other (The target challenge)

This is something that has been going around social media. So basically, couples will go to one shop where you can mostly get everything. In our case it might be Game or wherever. You shop alone then once you meet with your partner, you will reveal what you bought them at the same time. These include your partners;

  • Favourite snack

  • Something comfy

  • Favourite drink

  • Favourite colour

  • Something that reminds you of them

  • Something they would get for you.

It’s interesting to see how well people know their partners and you get a laugh it so why not go for it. If you still want to see more of that, click on 'The target challenge" (above) and check out the video.

So go forth and have a good time this Valentine's Day. Be safe and if you are alone or with someone still find any excuse to celebrate love. Happy Valentine's Day.
